Geotechnics

Whether you need to integrate a new road or upgrade an existing one, the groundwork for the design is always laid by geotechnical engineering. At Antea Group you will find specialists who contribute their geotechnical knowledge at every phase of a project, ensuring safe, sustainable, smart solutions.

The teams at Antea Group have all the skills required to successfully complete geotechnical services, at all stages of your projects: engineering geology, hydrogeology, soil and rock mechanics, resistance to materials, digital modeling. With this expertise on board, you can build responsibly now and avoid unpleasant surprises later on.

Versatile geotechnical expertise

Stability analyses, the design of construction pits, settlement monitoring:  with our specialists you bring versatile geotechnical expertise on board. Based on their knowledge of soil – the composition, grain size, strength and behavior – they identify the geotechnical risks and then develop well-supported solutions and designs based on your starting points and requirements.

Managing subsoil risks

Throughout the different stages of a construction project, risks related to soil and groundwater at each stage of the project can be expertly managed through our geotechnical engineering services.  Optimized design of construction works also strongly contributes to protecting our planet’s resources.

Investigating and summarizing

Antea Group has an excellent command of data acquisition techniques for soil characterization (surveys, sample analysis, etc.) in order to design and then build facilities (adapt facilities to the specifics of soil mechanics; foundations, supporting structural works, etc.).

Antea Group teams organize and manage local investigation works, interpret findings and then summarize the data acquired in situ.

Designing and evidencing

Our knowledge of local geology enables us to summarize and interpret all data acquired in order to determine a site’s geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological parameters to be taken into account during construction design.

Antea Group uses diverse in-house expertise, designs a range of geotechnical works: foundations, support structures, excavation drainage, tunnels, port structures, earthworks, dikes and dams, slope stabilization, mine excavation, landfills.

For example, our civil engineering teams provide expertise in geotechnical calculations and modeling, in particular in regards to soil-structure interactions, either static or under seismic loading.

Executing works

Our in-depth geological knowledge and our extensively tested and proven working methods ensure that our geotechnical missions are reliably carried out. This know-how in based on calculations, clear graphical documents and on-site geotechnical follow-up. We also provide geotechnical supervision during the execution of the construction works.

Assessing

Global warming increasingly alters constructions and natural sites, some of which may present a risk today. Antea Group has the capacity to assess the solidness of construction works that have been affected by these changes (assets, port structures, etc.) as well as slope and embankment stability or that of former quarries and pits.

Specialists in all-inclusive thinking

Our people offer you more than geotechnical expertise alone: they also possess the skills to work together in multidisciplinary project teams. They have an eye for the interfaces and interactions in road projects, ensuring, for example, that a geotechnical design lines up logically with the road design, cables and pipes, and, where applicable, soil contamination and/or archaeological finds. With this sort of all-inclusive thinking, you can be sure of higher-quality solutions with lower failure costs, and a more efficient process.

Innovative methods

It’s good to know that our geotechnical engineers use innovative technologies and methods in their work, like the ALLU soil stabilizing system (AlluStab), for example, a new method for laying bicycle infrastructure in areas with fragile peat ecosystems. Another example is the use of sensors to monitor the soil, and technologies involving the use of 3D survey data to create 3D models of the subsurface. In this way we continue to optimize solutions and enable you to work smarter.
